We have fish! Finally, the tank is no longer sitting empty, or even just looking empty with three tiny little lonely fish in it. Yesterday we received 28 fish through mail order. Two of them arrived dead:
And three more were swimming upside down and soon followed suit:
African Cichlids turn all sorts of nice colors and have very interesting breeding methods. The female actually holds all the eggs in her mouth until they hatch, not eating the entire time, and then spits them out as tiny, fully formed fish! No, I didn't take those pictures just to have something to put on my blog!!! We actually get store credit from the company we bought the fish from since they didn't survive the journey on UPS Ground. So anyway, all of the fish look like different versions of the same boring little gray fish, but when they grow up, they will be really nice. Here is what they look like currently:

So it will be interesting to watch their transformation. It's also interesting to see their personalities emerge (as much as fish can have personalities). It won't be long before it becomes evident who it the "top dog" of the tank.

I really like your fish. We might have to get some. Although our fish tank is only 10 gallons! Might have to invest in a bigger one.
Your "Fish Recipes" Google ad looks great right next to the pics of the dead fish! Haha! Too funny!
